Kompong Thom


Located in the heart of the Cambodia, Kompong Thom province is home of some of Cambodia's most splendid cultural and natural heritage. Phum Prasat, a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva dating back in the 8th century, is built in bricks and sandstones. The site of Sambor Prei Kuk, is home of the ancient capital of Chenla, which was the former name of Cambodia during the 7th century. There are more than a hundred pre-Angkorian temples scattered throughout the jungle and which can be explored by a leisurely bicycle ride.
The main city is located on the shore of the  Stung Sen River.
