SIEM REAP – KOH KER – BENG MEALEA – SIEM REAP (L)Pick-up from the hotel and depart for Koh Ker, the Khmer capital in the 10th century during the reign of King Jayavarman IV (928/942). Discover its numerous ruins and the seven-storey step pyramid. By midday stop for lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon drive to the relatively unknown Beng Mealea. This temple was built between 1112 and 1152 by King Suryavarman II. It would have served as a model to build Angkor Wat. The site is still magical when walking on the bridges which span the ruins of the temple. It was made famous by the movie Director Jean-Jacques Annaud who shot the film Two Brothers in these ruins. Then, return back to Siem Reap late in the afternoon.
