Culinary Escapade in Inle Lake, 4 days

Day 1    HEHO – INLE LAKE: TASTING BURMESE WINE                   (L)
Welcome upon arrival by the local guide at Heho airport then drive to the Red Mountain vineyards. Welcome by the manager. After a brief explanation of the history of the vineyard (about 20 minutes) start the visit of the domain and the cellars. The tour ends with a wine tasting before driving to Nyaung Shwe for lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, walk through this important village and visit Shwe Yan Pyay teak monastery, often photographed for its famous oval windows. Finally, transfer and check-in at hotel.
Overnight at Inle Lake.

After breakfast, motor boat ride among the floating villages to observe the Intha’s lifestyle. This ethnic group has developed very particular techniques of navigation, fishing and agriculture. By midday, enjoy an ephemeral lunch on the Lake. Witness the motor boat transforms in a floating restaurant. Opportunity to enjoy lunch while watching majestic and skillful fishermen maneuvers their frail boat, paddling with a leg and balanced on the other, fishing with both hands. Enjoy the delicious lunch rocked by the lapping waters. In the afternoon, stop at weaving villages, floating gardens, Ngaphe Chaung monastery and Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. Return to hotel late in the afternoon.

Day 3     INLE LAKE: SHAN COOKING CLASS                          (B/L)
After breakfast, transfer to View Point restaurant. Stroll through the local market with the chef to buy ingredients to prepare the gourmet lunch. During the market shopping, the chef explains the techniques of local bargaining and describes the characteristics of fresh products. Back in the kitchen of View Point, the chef starts the class and oversees operations. Once the preparation is complete, relax a moment with an aperitif drink in the restaurant’sdining room overlooking the Nyaung Shwe canal and rice paddy fields. Participants then enjoy the Shan meal prepared during the class together. In the afternoon, the visit of the lake continues by moto boat.

Day 4    INLE LAKE: STROLL AT LOCAL MARKET                               (B)
After breakfast, stroll through one the five-day-local market and tast local products. On the lake fruits and vegetables are grown in floating gardens; Inthas (inhabitants of the lake) come to sell their products to Pa'O, ethnic group from the surrounding hills. At the market, taste some fresh fruit or typical small cakes... Note: Rooms shall be released in the morning before leaving for the excursion. Transfer in the afternoon to Nyaung Shwe and then to Heho airport.
