Day 1     PHNOM PENH                
Upon arrival, welcome by the local guide at Phnom Penh airport and check-in at the hotel. Note: Rooms are available from 2pm. Depart for a first discovery of the Cambodian capital including the National Museum and its collection of pre-angkorian and Angkorian Khmer art masterpieces. Visit the Royal Palace, current residence of His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni, and the famous Silver Pagoda. It dominates the city by its impressive architecture and the remarkable golden Khmer classical ornament. Then walk towards Vat Phnom, the oldest sacred shrine in the city to which he has also given its name. Finally, if time permits, stroll through the bustling Central Market, famous for its Art-Deco architecture and at the Russian market.

Day 2     PHNOM PENH / SIEM REAP                        (B/L)
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Siem Reap. Meet upon arrival with the local guide, transfer and check-in at the hotel. Note: Rooms are available from 2pm. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon, visit the ancient capital of Angkor Thom, a huge architectural complex with the famous Bayon Temple at its center. This mountain-temple was once surrounded by 54 towers. On each of the 37 remaining, 4 enigmatic faces can still be recognized. Then, explore Baphuon, which was fully restored by a team of French archaeologists after 16 years of work. The day ends from Pre Rup temple to enjoy the panorama of the late afternoon settling on the plaine.

Day 3     SIEM REAP                          (B/L)
After breakfast, visit Angkor Wat (early-mid 12th century) dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. This magnificent temple-mountain, built by King Suryavarman II is considered as the masterpiece of the Khmer architecture and art. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, drive to the twin temples of Thommanon and Chau Say Tevoda (early 12th century), the unfinished temple-mountain of Ta Keo, the Srah Srang holy pond, Bantey Kdei and then the scenic Ta Phrom monastery, surrounded by the jungle. Later, discover the natural essence of Cambodia by visiting a handicraft center.

Day 4     SIEM REAP – KBAL SPEAN – BANTEAY SREI - SIEM REAP                          (B/L)
After breakfast, drive to Kbal Spean, the “River of a Thousand Lingas”, located about 50 km north of Siem Reap.  Upon arrival, walk through the forest (45 minutes) and explore the river where the bedrocks are engraved with Apsaras and countless symbols of the god Shiva.  It was believed that the linga fertilized the water that irrigated the rice fields underneath. Lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, drive through to the famous Bantey Srey Temple the “Citadel of Women”. This small pink sandstone temple (late 10th century) is considered to be a jewel in the crown of classical Khmer art because of its delicate carvings. Then, return back to Siem Reap through the Cambodian countryside and stop at a center of the golden silk production to learn about the ancient craft, followed by the visit of the marvelously restored Bantey Samre Temple.

Note: Kbal Spean is difficult to access for people with disabilities or elderly people with walking difficulties.

Day 5     SIEM REAP                          (B)
After breakfast, depart early morning to Kompong Khleang, a village located 50 km from Siem Reap, surrounded by a swamped forest where one of the largest communities on the lake is living mainly on fishing. On arrival, embark on small boats and observe the everyday life of villagers. Visit the Vietnamese village, as well as the place where smoked fish is produced (from January to May, only during the dry season). This part of the lake is also home for some surprising stilt houses, up to 10 meters high during the dry season. Then, return back to Siem Reap and time is at leisure. Note: Rooms shall be released by 12pm (noon). Depending on the flight schedule, transfer to the airport for the departure flight.
