Mondulkiri: the Last frontier, 4 days

Day 1     PHNOM PENH – KAMPONG CHAM – SEN MONOROM                    (L)
Depart early morning toward Sen Monorom in the isolated Mondulkiri region (approximately 7 hours drive). This part of the country is still unknown, mostly forested and lies at the border of Vietnam. Landscapes and climate are unique due to the altitude. Please note that the roads and infrastructures are still of limited comfort! Along the way visit the Chup rubber plantation which was one of the largest in the world until the Khmers Rouges period during the 70’s. Today it remains the largest still operating in Cambodia with about 13.250 hectares. By midday stop for lunch at local restaurant. In the afternoon, continue the road through different scenic landscapes. This remote province bordering Vietnam is one of the least visited in the country. Check-in at the hotel.
Overnight in Sen Monorom.

Day 2    SEN MONOROM                       (B/ L)
After breakfast, depart for a day dedicated to the discovery of the Asian elephant in a picturesque landscape of tropical forest. This day is a good opportunity to explore this region of Cambodia, still very isolated, but also to learn about Mahout, to better understand the pachyderms and explore the forest. Beyond the tourist attraction, participants learn the daily work to take care of elephants and spend some quality time with them. Then, return back to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Overnight in Sen Monorom.
Note: In the absence of an insurance certificate from the suppliers, we are temporarily unable to offer the rides on the elephants in this region.

Day 3     SEN MONORUM – BU SRA – PACHINDA – SEN MONOROM                        (B/L)
After breakfast, excursion to the impressive Bu Sra waterfalls, located east of the city (approximately 1 hour drive). According to the season, the rugged road may be difficult but rewarding the visitor with splendid landscapes. Late in the morning, adventure continues to meet a Pnong minority at Pachinda village. Stop for lunch and to share some unforgettable memories with the villagers. In the afternoon, visit some plantations before driving back to the hotel.
Overnight in Sen Monorom.

Day 4     SEN MONOROM – KOMPONG CHAM – PHNOM PENH                                (B/L)
